16/07/2023 | News from our special campaign with the IMO for the Promotion of Women in Maritime

Galilee International Management Institute in collaboration with the International Maritime Organization have come together once again to empower women and elevate their status in the maritime industry.

In line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No5, which focuses on gender equality, the IMO is taking bold steps to address the prevailing gender imbalance in maritime. And we are proud to be a part of this transformative journey!

To support the advancement of women in the maritime industry, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) awarded a generous fellowship to a group of female candidates. This fellowship provides them with the opportunity to participate in the highly regarded Port Senior Management training programme offered by Galilee Institute.

Today, these fortunate women, along with several other participants, begin an immersive and comprehensive practical training experience, meticulously designed to provide the latest industry knowledge and high-level management skills that will put them in good stead to shape the future of maritime.

Today, in the city of Nazareth, we held a special opening ceremony to welcome our esteemed guest, Mr Julian Abril, Head of Facilitation at the International Maritime Organization, and participants from all over the world. The ceremony was presided by GIMI’s CEO Mr Guy Wolf, and was attended by Mrs. Ravit Nahir-Gelber, Head of Strategic Partnerships & International Development and Mrs Noa Oren, Former VP of New Ports Development at Israel Ports Company.

Following a warm welcome, it was highly appropriate that Noa Oren, a seasoned and accomplished marine and civil engineering consultant, delivered their inaugural lecture. Noa, who has held esteemed leadership roles, is a true embodiment of a remarkable #WomaninMaritime. Mr Abril also addressed the group on the subject of IMO’s structure and Port Facilitation.

Stay tuned for more updates as our inspiring participants continue their exciting journey in Israel until July 23rd.
