Dr. Joseph Shevel was personally invited by Mrs. Cecilia Ibru, Alumna of GIMI to be the keynote speaker, during the Memorial Lecture Day, in remembrance and honour of the Entrepreneurial Founder of the Michael and Cecilia Ibru University: The Philanthropist Olorogun Dr. Michael Christopher Onajirevbe Ibru. The event also celebrated the graduation of the University's pioneer students and was the first convocation ceremony since the University had been established in 2015.

Dr. Shevel lectured on "Jumpstarting The Nigeria Economy Using the Israeli Model with Particular reference to Human Capital".
