We have just finished celebrating our Jewish New Year and now are all back at work, ready to hear from you and looking forward to our November Intake.

GIMI ABROAD

South Africa
This September, Dr. Shevel, President of GIMI, travelled to South Africa.  He held many meetings and was delighted to meet up with some dear graduates.

Dr. Shevel enjoyed a meeting with Executive Deputy Mayor of Cape Town, Alderman Ian Neilson and Ms. Xanthea  Limberg, Head of Training, to discuss cooperation.

Dr. Shevel met Prof. Nehemia Mashomanye Mahlo Mokgalong, Vice Chancellor and Principal, University of Limpopo, Turfloop Campus. They held discussions on cooperation.

Dr. Shevel has appointed two Hon. Ambassadors of GIMI, our Graduates Dr. Angie Mokwena and Mrs. Lynette Tokoza Kwinana  He was very happy to have spent time with them both, and they are very enthusiastic about cooperation between South Africa and GIMI.

Dr. Shevel was invited to take part in the World Public Forum “Dialogue of Civilizations” at the 13th Annual Rhodes Forum. He lectured on the subject of “Climate Change, Population Explosion and Migration in and from Africa“.  While there, Dr. Shevel was delighted to have had the opportunity to talk to Walter Schwimmer, the former Secretary General of the Council of Europe. GIMI in the Future

Cooperation with EMUNI in Science Diplomacy (Science diplomacy is the use of scientific collaborations among nations to address common problems and to build constructive international partnerships).
GIMI and Emuni (European  Mediterranean University, Slovenia), together with other Mediterranean and European partners sent their application to   join the round table discussion at the ESOF  EuroScience Open Forum in 2016, ESOF is the biennial pan-European meeting dedicated to scientific research and innovation. The application was accepted and the discussion will take place in Manchester, UK . The panel will present the concept of science diplomacy as perceived by different stakeholders, highlight best practices and success stories, and attempt to develop recommendations for further engagement in science diplomacy. With the panellists coming from diverse backgrounds including academia, researchers, policy makers and journalists, our aim is to address science diplomacy from different angles, regions and cultures. Dr. Joseph Shevel, President of Galilee Institute will bring the GIMI experience in the field of Education and Development. http://www.esof.eu/information/esof-in-manchester.html

Mr. Titus Muthini Ndambuki, upon his new role as Commissioner, for the Public Service Commission  in Kenya.  Wishing him success and happiness in his new role.  After attending a programme here at GIMI, Titus decided to start a small dairy herd and has just updated me that the red cow gave birth, so he is able to supply even more milk
