Management from Galilee International Management Institute participated in a meeting held between Faculty and Officials from Israeli and Hungarian institutions of higher education. This meeting was held at the National University of Public Service (NUPS) in Budapest, Hungary. NUPS University was formed through the merger of the Zrínyi Miklós National Defence University (becoming the Faculty of Military Sciences and Officer Training), the Police College (becoming the Faculty of Law Enforcement) and the Faculty of Public Administration of Corvinus University of Budapest (becoming the Faculty of Public Administration at NUPS. The university’s primary goal is to educate future public administration officials, military and law enforcement officers (through BA and MA programmes) and to develop the skills and know-how of current members of public service (through further training programmes). Moreover, NUPS also functions as a think tank for public service.

The purpose of the meeting was to strengthen relations between Hungary and Israel in research, policy and security issues. Among the topics discussed were the challenges presented by Russia and its activities in Ukraine; Syria, about the immigration from the Middle East and Africa and the significance of the Islamic threat 'IS'.

The sponsor of the conference was Israeli Ambassador to Hungary HE Ilan Maor.  His Excellency spoke at the opening session and hosted Hungarian officials and lecturers from Israel at his residence for lunch.

This conference was a continuation of a meeting between the university and GIMI previously held in May about security and immigration issues. Additional meetings between GIMI and National Defence University Headquarters, have also taken place in Budapest and Israel in the past.

GIMI was represented by Brigadier General (Ret.) Ephraim Lapid, a board member of GIMI and Mrs. Ravit Gelber, Director of the Centre for Strategic Studies, GIMI. Also in attendance were Professor Zvi Hacohen, Rector of the University of Ben-Gurion University, Prof. Shimon Sheetrit from the Hebrew University, Prof. Eran Vigoda-Gadot of the University of Haifa and Prof. Avishay Goldberg, Vice Rector Ben Gurion University.
