Alumni Newsletter May - June 2015

Dearest Alumni Family

I hope that you find this newsletter interesting and informative.  Thank you all so much for your comments and latest contributions to the Newsletter.  I wish that I could answer all your kind words on an individual basis, but I simply do not have the time.  However, of course if you have specific queries, you will always receive a reply, as I do read all your responses.

I would also like to thank all those 2010 Graduates that kindly answered our survey. This was most appreciated by the Management.

My thanks as always to Co-Editor Eyal Weissbuch; without Eyal this Newsletter would not be possible.

Just to remind you that we have not added too many photographs to the first page of the news, but please make sure that you click READ MORE, as there you will find many photographs and information.

Warmest regards from all here,

Shalom,
Sallee

Dr. Bothutu Angelina Mokwena, South Africa to the time to write to me: "In 2013, while I was at GIMI, especially in the dining hall, I noticed that the left-over food was deposited/thrown into a separate large container and not mixed with other garbage. As a researcher, I never asked anybody the reason behind that. When I arrived at home, all of a sudden I started to have a vision and a very strong urge and desire to do likewise to separate leftover food, vegetable and fruit peels from the rubbish and this was done outside the house in a normal size containers with the intention of making the manure for the vegetable garden. Every time I threw the leftover food in a container, I covered that with soil. I started to dream big seeing the vegetable garden flourishing!!! I bought seeds for cultivating the garden.  In September, 2013, I instructed Abel, my gardener to loosen the soil and make plots to be ready for cultivating the vegetable garden. One of the plots was a bigger hole for the manure. The sweet potatoes below were cultivated in 2013 from one sweet potato which germinated buds and was planted in a plot with the manure. So many sweet potatoes were harvested in June 2014."
