Dr. Joseph (Yossie) Shevel 博士
Dr. Joseph (Yossie) Shevel studied at the Hebrew University (Haifa Branch - 1966-1969), Tel Aviv University and at New York University (1975-1978). He studied Geography & History (BA) and Public Administration (PhD) focussing on Urban and Regional Development. His PhD dissertation focussed on Economic and Health Impacts of Urban Transport Pollution.
Dr. Joseph Shevel is the President of Galilee International Management Institute since 2000. He previously served as a lecturer at the University of Haifa in Department of Economics and was the Director of the Department of Management Studies at the university (ED). He has also lectured at the Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) and Bar Ilan University. He served as the executive director of IPAC – Israeli Planning and Consulting, which focusses on environmental projects and strategic economic planning.
Dr. Shevel has been active in public life in Israel and since 1986. He was a member of the Prime Minister Committee on Social Policy and of the Environmental Committee of the Haifa Region (under the auspices of the Israel Ministry of Energy. He serves as the Director and Coordinator of several joint European – Mediterranean networks in the field of management and economic development.
He has been invited to address numerous conferences on national security, among them the Annual Conference on Security of Europe, Croatia, National Security University , Taiwan (2007), National Security University, Korea (2005, 2007), Moscow State University, Russia (2008).
He is a member of the East African Security Forum since 2012 and an active member of the Asian University President Forum since 2005. He has presented lectures at the forum’s meetings in Bangkok (2006) and in Korea (2005).He was a senior member of the Mediterranean Peace Forum (Lecce, Italy) and led delegations and discussions between Palestinians and Israelis in an effort to reach a peace agreement. Dr. Shevel has been invited to lecture at the United Nations University – Leadership Academy in Amman (Amman University)on leadership, management and the economic prospects in the Middle East following the peace agreement. He is an active member of the World Public Forum – Dialogue of Civilizations.
He has lectured at the Global Leadership Centre at Bacheshire University, Turkey. In June 2008, Dr. Shevel became one of the founders of the Euro-Mediterranean University, established in Slovenia under the auspices of the European Union. He was a Key note speaker at Gujarat, India – Vibrant Gujarat Conference (Jan. 2013, Jan. 2014) and has been a frequent guest lecturer on economic and social development through higher education, climate change and the Israeli start-up experience at many leading universities in Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso and many others). He is a Board Member of the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN).
