Congratulations to Dr Abdoulaye Boré from Mali for the publication of his book

Our dear graduate, Dr Abdoulaye Boré, Acting Head of the Sociology and Anthropology Department at the Faculty of Human Sciences and Education Sciences of Bamako in Mali shared with us the news of the publication of his book entitled Hereditary Diseases and Matrimonial Alliances – A Social Dilemma in the Face of Sickle Cell Disease.

We were delighted to learn that part of the analysis for his book actually started in Israel in 2017, when he took part in the Community Management of HIV/AIDS training programme at Galilee Institute. That makes us so proud!

Here is a summary of the content of his book:
The originality of the approach undertaken within the framework of this research in Mali has a double meaning, even three. Firstly, the results provide an approach to raise awareness of a genetic disease - sickle cell disease, which is little known in rural Mali. Secondly, the results helped to understand the inequality of access to care for children with sickle cell disease in rural (closed) and urban (open) settings. The third element of reflection is based on an analogue of articulation in terms of deciphering blood disease, between the biological (gene) and the socio-cultural (surname), in the fight against consanguinity diseases, particularly sickle cell disease.

Once again congratulations on such an achievement and wishing Dr Boré continued success!
