08/05/2016 | Former President of Ethiopia, His Excellency Dr. Girma Wolde-Giorgis, visits GIMI

His Excellency Dr. Girma Wolde-Giorgis, Former President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, recently spent a week in Israel, under the auspices of GIMI. The VIP Delegation toured Israel intensively. On the final evening of the Visit, His Excellency was invited to a special event held in his honour in order to present him with the prestigious Galilee Institute Leadership Award. The award was in recognition of 7 decades of service to his country, his wish to make peace with Eritrea and his contribution towards the Environment.

Among those in attendance were (from the Diplomatic Corps), H.E. Helawe Yosef Mengistu, Ambassador, Ethiopia Embassy who was accompanied by  Mr. Gebru Ambaye, Minister Counsellor, Mr Mathias Mwanza , First Secretary Trade and Tourism from the  Zambia Embassy, Mr. Ador William Miabek, Second Secretary at the Embassy of South Sudan and Mr. Ehab Erfan, 3rd Secretary at the Embassy of Egypt. From the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Itzhak Gerber, Ambassador Designate to New Zealand. All senior Management from Galilee Institute were present, including Major General (Ret.) Dr. Baruch Levy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Admiral (Ret.) Shabtai Levy, Member of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Joseph Shevel, President, Dr. Nathan Tirosh, Dean, Ambassador Shemi Tzur – Academic Director of Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs, Ms. Tamar Joseph, Director, International Department and Mrs. Ravit Nahir-Gelber, Director of Business Development and Director of the Centre for Strategic Studies.
