The President of Galilee Institute, Dr. Joseph Shevel was invited by Gulu University to deliver two lectures on the 27th and 28th February. He lectured on New Trends in the Management of Higher Education Institutes for staff and council members of Gulu University and gave a public lecture about Economic Development based on Education at the Hotel Acholi Inn, Gulu. Dr. Shevel was accompanied on this trip by Senior Registrar Mrs. Carina Baum. They were both very happy to meet some of the graduates who came to attend the lectures. Our 2010 graduate from Transport Management and Planning, Mr. James Lubai Akena especially came to meet them in Gulu as well as Kampala.

Dr. Shevel and Carina then travelled to Kampala with Mr. Opika Opoka. They stopped to visit Paraa National Park, which they all enjoyed very much.

The first visit in Kampala was to the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI), where they had a meeting regarding cooperation with the Director General, Prof. Charles Kwesiga, who is a twice graduate. Prof. Kwesiga also conducted them on a very interesting tour of the Institute. They caught up with some more of GIMI graduates during their time there.

Yet another GIMI graduate, Mr. Isaac Kyaligonza, from the Ministry of Education organised a very successful meeting at the Ministry of Education, where they met up with senior decision makers and graduates

After this Dr. Shevel and Carina went to meet some more graduates at the Presidential Initiative for Banana Industrial Development (PIBID). They were delighted to see Dr. Frank Mabiriizi, Chairman of the Board and Management Committee, Dr. Joseph Bahati and Mr. Charles Nsubuga Kiberu - GIMI Graduates.

Dr. Shevel and Carina decided to embrace local tradition and take a boda-boda to the graduates meeting at the Uganda Management Institute. Before the graduates meeting, they were warmly greeted by our graduate and very kind host Dr. Mary Muhenda, the Registrar at UMI.

The graduate meeting was a wonderful success and Dr. Shevel and Carina were delighted to be reunited with so many happy graduates of GIMI.

While the meeting was on-going, Dr. Shevel had a private chat with our Host Dr. James Luyenga Nkata, Director General of the UMI.

After this lovely reunion, Dr. Shevel and Carina were honoured host a dinner for the Minister of Education and Sports, The Hon. Jessica Arupo and our graduates Prof. Charles Kwesiga, Mr. Hector Simon Opika Opoka and his wife, Mr. Godfrey Acer, Ms. Audrine Twiine Bakarobwa together with Dr. Abel John Julian Rwendeire.
