The Honourable Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of Kenya, is on a state visit to Israel. Israeli President Reuven and First Lady Nechama Rivlin held, at the President's Residence, a state dinner in his honour. Dr. Joseph Shevel, President of Galilee International Management Institute was in attendance and was delighted to have had the opportunity to discuss training with HE President Kenyatta.

They talked mainly about agriculture and water management. Dr. Shevel stressed the importance of water management and gave some instances in Kenya. He talked about his visit to Tana River, the biggest river in Kenya, saying that the population of Tana River County, stand along the river and watch the water moving down to the ocean and then complain they do not have water. Furthermore, they even fight and sometimes kill each other because of water. Dr. Shevel also explained to the President that most wars in the history of the Middle East were because of water.

Another example was with Taita Taveta County. There is a huge spring, Mzima Springs and only 10% of the water is utilised, serving Mombasa: the rest of the water ends in the sea. Dr. Shevel further explained that with water management and proper planning Taita Taveta can become the bread-basket of Kenya. President Kenyatta thanked Dr. Shevel and assured him that he will certainly work on cooperation in the water management field.
