05/04/2017 | GIMI President Dr. Joseph Shevel travelled to EMUNI, Slovenia to Present Israeli SMEs and Entrepreneurship

Dr. Joseph Shevel participated in the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI) General Assembly Annual Conference Youth, Employability & Entrepreneurship: The Role of Higher Education Institutions, in Piran, Slovenia. The conference dealt with the Mediterranean region’s challenge with the high unemployment of young people; in some countries it is as high as 50%. Dr. Shevel presented the Israeli method of investing in entrepreneurship and small-medium business enterprises, as well as the establishment of business incubators.

At the conference, he met with the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education, The Hon. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, to discuss cooperation on higher education, particularly towards the development of the agricultural sector in Egypt with innovative Israeli methods. He also had the opportunity to offer Eng. Omar M. Amawi, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Higher Council for Science and Technology, Jordan, training on Water Resource Management. When Eng. Amawi shared that Jordan is one of the top five driest countries in the world, Dr. Shevel shared that Israel now no longer has a lack of water due to innovative solutions that have now been implemented. Sharing Israeli technology and water solutions with our neighbours is also a part of GIMI's mission.
