03/01/2017 | Meeting between the Prime Minster of Ethiopia and GIMI President, Dr. Joseph Shevel

Dr. Shevel flew to Ethiopia for a meeting with the HE Prime Minister, the Hon. Excellency Hailemariam Desalegn. The meeting was kindly arranged by our good friend, the former President, HE Girma Wolde-Giorgis. State Minister, the Hon. Mr. Ewnetu Bilata Debela, Head of Special Office of the Prime Minister also attended the meeting.

The Hon. Excellency Mr. Hailemariam Desalegn and Dr. Shevel enthusiastically discussed cooperation in agricultural training and the Prime Minister emphasised the importance of managing arid land. They also discussed programmes on how to improve road safety. Her Excellency Belaynesh Zevadia Israel's Ambassador in Ethiopia, has been most supportive of these plans and also kindly arranged for Dr. Shevel to appear on the National News.

Dr. Shevel was also delighted to hear of the progress of some of our dear Ethiopian GIMI Graduates: HE Mr. Lemma Megersa Wako, a two-time graduate of GIMI's Centre for Strategic Studies was recently elected President of the Regional Government of Oromia. HE Dr. Bekele Bulado Bukana is now Minister of Trade and HE Dr. Kaba Urgessa Dinssa is now State Minister of Agriculture.
