Ms. Carmel Elharar, Director of the Agriculture and Environment Training Centre (AETC) and Mrs. Reut Rom, AETC Programmes Development Director flew to Nairobi to hold many meetings with GIMI Clients, including:

National Drought Management Authority – a fairly new Authority; the Chairwoman will be attending the GIMI Irrigation Programme in October.

They also enjoyed meetings at the Ministry of Livestock, HCDA –Horticulture Crops Development Authority and Heifer International.

Carmel and Reut appreciated attending a special dinner with Mr. Edward Mudibo, MD for the East Africa Tea Traders Association and the Chairman of the Agricultural Industry Network. This meeting was kindly arranged by our dear graduate Mr. Alex Gathii from Tanolope Consultancy Limited who also joined them for dinner.

Carmel was delighted to meet up with her very first participant and dear Graduate Mr. Denis Amuhaya who invited them for lunch at his house to meet his family.

They had a very entertaining Dinner with Mr. Machira Gichohi of the Kenya Dairy Board and MD Wachira Njuguna, National Housing Corporation.

Carmel and Reut then flew to Kisumu and were met at the airport by 8 members of the Kericho County Assembly and dear Graduates of GIMI. They enjoyed a lovely dinner with 40 County Assembly Members and were very happy to meet up with more dear graduates. They stayed overnight and the next morning went to the Assembly to meet the Clerk and the Speaker. They then toured the tea packing factory, saw the tea fields and received a lot of tea.

Carmel and Reut then attended a Ceremony given in their honour.  The Members had the opportunity to greet them and speak about their experience at GIMI. They have started to implement in many of the things they learnt and saw in Israel. Reut and Carmel were also happy to hear the traditional song that they sang. After the ceremony they drove through the endless tea fields for lunch and said good bye.

All their meetings were both productive and also very enjoyable.  The discussions were on how to continue cooperation and to develop new tailor-made programmes. They also had the great pleasure of catching up with lots of Graduates.  They wish to thank everyone for the very warm welcome and lovely hospitality that they received during all their visits
